The hugely popular five time World Longtrack Champion and double British Champion Simon Wigg is remembered in the Speedway Legends Series.
Over a career spanning 18 years, Wiggy was successful on the International and domestic speedway scenes. In the international arena Wiggy won the World Longtrack Championship in 1985,89,90,93 and 1994. Whilst representing Great Britain Wigg won the World Team Cup 1989 and stood on the rostrum on a further four occasions. In 1989 Simon won the Commonwealth Final before going on to his best World Individual Final placing of second behind Hans Nielsen.
In domestic speedway Simon had spells with Weymouth, Cradley, Oxford, Hackney, Coventry, Bradford, Long Eaton, Exeter and King’s Lynn. Wiggy was part of a British League title winning team on four occasions, once for Cradley Heath Heathens (1983) and three times for Oxford (1985,86,89). He also won the knock out cup on five occasions with Cradley, Oxford and Bradford.
